TIER COMPANY has been providing independent consultancy and training services for the financial services sector for over 25 years.
Founder and chief economist, Paul Temperton, is well known as a consultant and financial trainer. As a consultant, he works for a number of private sector financial institutions. As a financial trainer, he has travelled far and wide – most often to the Gulf region but also to Asia, Africa and America and around continental Europe.

Paul Temperton is a highly-respected economist who has extensive experience in the financial markets, working firstly at the Bank of England before moving into investment banking with Merrill Lynch and later establishing TIER.
After beginning his career with the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Group, working on the design and implementation of monetary policy, Paul moved to Merrill Lynch in London where he worked for seven years. Whilst at Merrill Lynch he held the position of First Vice President and Director of European Economic and Fixed Income Research.
Paul is prolific in the world of financial publishing, having authored, edited and contributed to, a number of publications, some examples of which are shown on our Services page.
Paul graduated from Durham University, England in 1980 with a first class honours degree in Economics. He was awarded the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) qualification in 2000 and the CIPM (Certificate in Performance Measurement) in 2013. His most recent qualification (November 2020) is CFA’s Certificate in ESG Investing.

Founder and chief economist, Paul Temperton, is the author of a number of books on economic and financial market issues. He is well known as a consultant and financial trainer. As a consultant, he works for Invesco and EFG International. Training programmes are conducted for several organisations including the London Stock Exchange Group.
